Your Belt and Uniform

All Delfs’ Students wear a traditional white uniform called a ‘Do-Bok’ in Korean. The white color symbolizes unity and peace. Different levels are identified by belt colors.

It is important that your uniform and belt are worn properly, in fact it is a rule. You must be able to tie your belt properly or you will be asked to remove it in class. There are some rules that you must follow regarding your uniform.

bullet Never walk around without you belt tied.
bullet Never place you hands on your hips or stand with your arms crossed while in uniform.
bullet Never lean while in uniform.
bullet When sitting in uniform, sit with either legs crossed on legs together and knees bent.
bullet Do not roll your sleeves or cuffs of your pants up (Hem if they need adjustment)
bullet Always have the left lapel over the right side.

Club Crest

The crest ( patch or badge ) must be sewn on the left lapel over your heart. The crest should be straight. About one finger width from the top lapel edge and three fingers from the bottom. Be sure to attach it securely as it will see a lot of abuse.

Uniform Care

Your uniform is extremely durable and easy to take care of. Uniforms that are a cotton poly blend may be washed in hot or warm water with other whites, and if washed frequently will require little bleach. You may tumble dry or drip dry your uniform (cotton uniforms should be washed in cold water and drip dried only). Cotton/Poly blends are wash and wear and do not need to be ironed. NEVER iron your Club crest or you will melt it.

Tying Your Belt

Begin with the end of the belt in your right hand and measure out about 1/2 an arms length.

Place the belt on you waist and wrap it around counter clockwise one time leaving the measure length to hand down. Be sure to wrap the belt around flat and not have any twists

Wrap it around a second time placing it directly over the first wrap.

Continue by taking the end passing it under the two layers you just wrapped. Again make sure there are no twists or kinks.

At this point adjust the lengths of the ends so they are the same. You may have to side the knot to one side or the other to adjust the lengths, also adjust the tightness of your belt.

Finally take the end of the belt that comes out the top and pass it over the bottom end, complete the knot by returning it up through the center of the hole you just created. Pull both ends to the sides and make sure the knot has a neatly formed cleft on the right side.

Parent TIP
Learning to tie the belt with your child shows them that you endorse what they are learning. Belt tying provides the first step to confidence building and helps kids feel more comfortable in class.
