4 Direction Block & Punch
This is the first series of techniques that
teaches the new student foot work and arm leg coordination. There are four
variations of this pattern.
All variations are similar in that only a
single leg moves (steps) and the other stays in one spot and pivots.
Techniques you will need to know for these
patterns:

Ready stance

Walking punch
-
Low block
-
Side Block
Right Punch Left Low Block
-
Begin in a Ready Stance.
-
Raise your left arm up and bring your right
fist to your hip.
-
Step forward with your right leg and execute a
right walking punch.
-
Bring your right foot back toward your left
and place your left arm on top of your right. (Arms go back to back)
-
With your right leg, step out and to your
right side while turning to your left 1/4 turn forming a walking stance.

Drop your left arm down in front of you to
form a low section block.
-
repeat from step 2 until you are facing the
staring direction.

Kihap (yell) on the last block.
-
Step up slowly.
Left Punch Right Low
Block
As above but in the opposite direction.
Right Punch Left Side
Block
-
Begin in a Ready Stance.
-
Extend your left arm out in front of you and
bring your right fist to your hip.
-
Step forward with your right leg and execute a
right walking punch.
-
Bring you right foot back toward your left and
place your left arm underneath your right. (Arms are both palm down)
-
With your right leg, step out and to your
right side while turning to your left 1/4 turn forming an ‘L’ stance.

Place your left arm in front of you to form an
inner forearm side block
-
Repeat from step 2 until you are facing the
staring direction.

Kihap (yell) on the last block.

Step up slowly.
Left Punch Right Side Block
As above but in the opposite direction.
