My
success story can only start off with
Delfs’ Fitness
Centre listened to me when I approached about wanting to look good
in my wedding dress. they told me if I was ready to commit myself, they
would help me reach my goal. I took them up on the offer the next day (now
four months and going strong) (fall 2001)
and I have not regretted a moment. I can proudly say, Results, Results,
Results!"
I had been working out for a couple of months on my own before asking for
help without noticing any satisfying results. Little did I know, all I
needed was some professional guidance and knowledge and Delfs' Staff
provided me with two solid months of that. With their extended knowledge
together with the help of excellent aerobics/Boxercise instructors and
all other staff at Delfs’ who make my workouts pleasant.
Getting older and having a child (two years ago and no longer an excuse
for being out of shape) really took a toll on my body. I used to be able
to eat what I wanted, work out 3 or 4 times a month and never gain (or
lose) anything. However, seeing that I cannot stop the aging process, I
must face the fact that I now need to work a little harder to stay in
shape. I have come to realize that eating sensibly and staying active is
a change in lifestyle. It is not something I can do for a few months
until my goal is reached, it is something that has to become a part of my
everyday schedule. It may be easy to reach my goal, but how easy is it to
maintain?
What I have learned is one has to set goals for themselves, otherwise,
they will not succeed. I have to work with some sort of gratification at
the end in order to persevere and succeed. I, therefore, have committed
myself to setting short term goals together with long term goals.
My short term goal was to lose approximately 10 to 15 pounds by my
wedding date. But I ask myself, what happens when I reach my goal? My
wedding is 8 months away and thanks to Delfs’ Fitness Centre, I have
reached my goal early, now what? Am I able to lay back and assume that
the weight will stay off? No! My suggestion - once that goal is met, set
another one and don’t stop until you have achieved it. The rewards are
indescribable. Besides, I have also set a long term goal. As I mentioned
earlier, I have a child and if I want her to be active and lead a healthy
lifestyle, I cannot expect that from her if I don’t follow that. My long
term goal is to set a good example for my family, Keep fit and eat
healthy.
I can only offer some words of wisdom from my experience. To those who
have not yet chosen this lifestyle, stop complaining about it. Do
something about it. And to those who are in the lifestyle, set your goals
and make them happen. Never stop setting goals.
Once again, thank you to all the staff at Delfs’ Fitness Centre for their
individual roles in helping me succeed and thank you to my family, who
have made it possible to reach my goal.
